Alabama Child Care Licensing Contact Information
The Alabama child care licensing contact information page will provide you valuable information if you are thinking of starting your own Alabama child care business. Alabama requires child day care centers to be licensed or license exempt in order to legally operate. Licensure approval or licensure exempt status is approved through the Alabama Department of Human Services and is regulated through the Child Care Services Division, Office of Alabama Child Care Licensing. In addition to providing licensing to centers, this department also prescribes and enforces the minimum standards. All licenses must be renewed every 2 years.
The Child Care Services Division, Office of Alabama Child Care Licensing is responsible for licensing centers, visiting centers to verify compliance of minimum standards at those centers, investigating non-compliance complaints or violations of the minimum standards, offering consultation to new and prospective centers in regards to minimum standards, as well as maintaining files on churches that elect to remain license exempt.
To begin the licensing process, you must contact the
Alabama Department of Human Services
to obtain the application form. Upon receipt of the application, a representative will come out to inspect the potential center location for minimum standards as well as investigate the person who has applied. After the representative determines that minimum standards have been met, a license will be issued. Should an application be denied, the applicant will be notified in writing. An application can be withdrawn by the applicant at any time either verbally or in writing.
Please see the
Alabama Department of Human Services
website to find out the minimum standards for daycare centers and nighttime centers, family daycare home and family nighttime homes, and group daycare homes and group nighttime homes.
