Colorado Child Care Contacts
If you are interested in starting your own Colorado child care business, then you will want to be aware of the following information. The Colorado Department of Human Services, Division of Child Care is responsible for monitoring and licensing all child care facilities including child care homes and centers. All child care providers and staff are required to undergo a criminal background check as well as checks against the Judicial Department's ICON database. A licensed is required for Colorado child care providers that provide care for more than family unrelated to the provider. To apply for a license for either a child care center or a family care home, you must submit an application and licensing fee at least 60 days prior to the start date of your proposed child care business. Fingerprints must also be submitted to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation and their names must be checked against the Central Registry of Child Protection. Once approved, an inspection will be scheduled to determine if a license should be issued.
